The Castle

The village of Specchio was dominated by a castle, which stood above the church, almost on the border between the ancient states of Parma and Piacenza. It was ruled by the Pallavicino, Valeri and Rugarli families, and finally passed to the Zanetti family: the poet Franceso Zanetti was inspired by the ruins of the castle for some of his compositions. Unfortunately, nothing remains of the building.
